What kind of I.D. do I need to enter Canada?
LAND BORDER: TRAVELER IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR 2007 LAND BORDER CROSSINGS
U.S. Visitors to Canada/Canadian Visitors to U.S.:
Be prepared to verify your CITIZENSHIP (place of birth) and IDENTITY (photo I.D.) with such documents as a Birth Certificate/Passport. For acceptable documentation, please refer to: Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) www.cbsa.gc.ca Or U.S. Department of State www.travel.state.gov
Citizens of other Countries:

AIR TRAVELERS: NEW REQUIREMENTS FOR AIR TRAVEL BETWEEN CANADA AND THE UNITED STATES
Effective January 23, 2007, all Canadian and U.S. citizens traveling by air between Canada and the United States are required to have a valid passport to enter the United States.

Border crossing wait times depends entirely on the volume of traffic crossing at a given time.
With new expansions and the increased number of Customs Agents, any wait should be minimal.
Border crossing identification is required.
Please assist by having identification available in hand for the Customs Official Passport / Visa / Original Birth Certificate and a Government issued Photo Identification
Please be advised the United States Senate has voted to postpone the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative's implementation date to June 1, 2009. Until then a passport is not the sole accepted form of I.D. Please contact your Customs Officials for detailed information.
